The smart connector and keyboard is nice too (I have the Logitech create keyboard cover but the point is no need to separately charge the keyboard or have the additional weight or bulk of a keyboard battery). For example, when you use a secondary mouse click on an iPad app icon, its contextual menu appears. In iPadOS, a secondary click acts like a long press on the iPad touchscreen, or a Control-click (or right-click) on a Mac. All I wanted over my previous iPads was a larger screen and some limited multitasking and never saw a need or desire for a mouse. With a mouse, you can also choose a behavior for a secondary click. I use my iPad Pro largely for work related "professional" tasks and I feel no need at all for a mouse so I don't know how many would consider it essential. So if you want a true mouse based implementation it would have to be coded into iOS by Apple. And no third party app could provide a pointer for any other app as the sandboxed design of iOS would preclude that sort of app-based feature. While the pen does use Bluetooth for some features, it is also fundamentaly a touch based device, not driving a remote cursor. Use the feedback link Ethan7988 provided. I bought Office 365 & put it on 5 Mac's & Mac mini's & 5 iPads & 2 iPhones. I was disappointed the Pro Keyboard was not backlit but fortunately the Logitech keyboard is backlit and I love it. First, make sure your iPad is running Software Version 13.4 or later by going to the Settings app, then selecting General from the left-hand menu and About. IF Apple wants the Pro to be professional beyond artists they will come up with a fix or someone else will. It seems to me that if a Pen can work that a mouse could be made to work. I presume the Pen is Bluetooth and when it arrives will work with the Pro.
